Therapeutic Specializations

Relationships: Relationships can impact the way we view ourselves within a cultural, relational, or interpersonal context. Relationships do not have to be romantic to be impactful - the way we feel at work or in social situations could also be relational in nature.

Through taking a “systems” approach, we work with our clients to explore what their relationships reveal about themselves and how to influence and improve interactions and relationships that could be hindering them.

Sexual emotional health: Physical, psychological, and emotional factors can all cause sexual challenges.

We believe sexual issues can only be resolved by specifically addressing them, and work to create and maintain a sex-positive space in the therapy room to confront and process challenges.

We strive to normalize all topics around sex and sexual identity and work with adults, couples, and non-monogamous people struggling with sexual communication issues, exploration and expression, sexual life-cycle matters, and other sexual issues.

Infidelity and romantic trust: Affair, cheating, messing around, infidelity, adultery, stepping out - these are some of the ways people describe the trust injury that comes from partner betrayal. We specialize in helping couples who are actively working towards recovery or resolution following this high-impact event. Sometimes resolution is staying together, sometimes it is breaking apart, and other times it is a shift in the dynamics and expectations of what a trusting relationship means to the partners. All options are open in this client-led process.

Self-image: Too often, we internalize others’ beliefs and expectations as benchmarks for success. When we judge ourselves by external standards it’s easy to spiral into feelings of low self-worth and self-confidence.

By addressing topics such as intrinsic vs. external motivation, lessons we learned during childhood, and social media and incorporating self-compassion, self-care, and kindness, we guide clients to create more productive alternative stories.

Feeling “stuck”: More than ever before, people are experiencing a feeling of inertia regarding one or more aspects of their life. Work, family, fitness, goal-setting - all of these can feel like they are weighing us down like Artax sinking in the swamp of sadness. Through questioning, exploration, and potential re-evaluation of fundamental concepts such as motivation, values, somatic connection, vision, and hope among many others, we will work towards an understanding of why the feeling of “stuckness” exists for us, and how we can best extract ourselves from it’s grasp.

Our Approach

We work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing difficulties in their lives. Our approach to treatment is based on the Narrative model, then draws on a wide variety of behavioral, cognitive, and psychodynamic therapies, and incorporates evidence-based interventions designed to create a positive therapeutic experience for the clients we serve.

We believe in meeting the clients where they are then guiding them to where they want to be through the use of psychoeducation, collaborative discussion, humor, and a strong focus on kindness.

The foundational belief of Narrative therapy, that "the person is not the problem - the problem is the problem", serves as our guide as we work through the issues and obstacles that inhibit the client from achieving their therapeutic goals.

Our approach encourages the client to write their own story through interpretation, reflection, and growth.

Eli Lipsky, MFT

I am a middle-aged, heterosexual, culturally Jewish, cis-gendered white male.

I have a wealth of experience working in many diverse occupations and industries, but my focus has always been on interpersonal development and the human aspects of life.

After many years in team building, leadership development, and individual coaching, I earned my Master's degree in individual, couples, and marriage therapy.

I conduct individually tailored therapy in a sex-positive, safe environment that is inquisitive and free of judgment.  My style is open, direct, and supportive. I believe the best work happens when people allow themselves to be themselves.

All are welcome, and all are respected.
